Item Description
2-5/8x3.75". The 1954 Red Heart set was produced by the Morrell Company and issued regionally with Red Heart brand dog food. The set consists of 33 cards, each with one of three different, evenly distributed, brightly colored backgrounds: 11 red, 11 blue and 11 green. A bust portrait of a broadly smiling player adorned the front of each card, placed against the solid backdrop. The clean design features the ballplayer's name within an elongated diamond near the bottom of each item, just above the team name printed along the bottom white border. The reverse carries a biography, statistics, and the Red Heart logo. The set features most of the stars and future Hall of Famers of the time, of which Stan Musial is the most difficult piece in the set, as his appearance was not only a short print, but also his only 1954 issue as he was absent from both the Bowman and Topps sets that year.

Enos Slaughter, nicknamed "Country", was an American Major League Baseball (MLB) right fielder. He played for 19 seasons on four major league teams from 1938 to 1942 and 1946 to 1959. He is noted primarily for his playing for the St. Louis Cardinals and famously scored the winning run in Game 7 of the 1946 World Series for the Cardinals. Some of his career highlights include being a four time Worlds Series Champion and a ten-time All-Star. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985.
