Item Description
7x7x2.25" tall tin litho toy w/built-in key comes in box w/nicely illustrated lid. Several versions of this toy were produced by Marx starting in 1928, this is the final version © 1966. Lid features image of train busting through a map which is decorated w/images for specific regions of the country. Additional train images appear on side panels. Top right corner of box has area designed for store price and the original price has been crossed out in ink. Lt. edge wear. VF. Base of toy features mountain landscape on two sides and city scene on two sides. Top is designed w/circular railroad track and separate tin attachments of a cottage, pair of brick walls, tunnel, semaphore and crossing gate. There is a 2.25" long train. Cottage is designed w/opening so train can travel through it. Roof is marked "Honeymoon Cottage" and sides feature illustrations of doors and windows including large window on one side where couple is visible in chairs w/man reading a newspaper. Toy works and train travels in a circle around the track. Roof of cottage has some tiny scattered paint nicks and scratches but toy remains N. Mint.
