Item Description
4.5x6x7.5" tall tin litho toy comes in very nicely illustrated box which is used to play a baseball game in conjunction w/toy. 1950s marked w/company logo of "K" in a circle plus "Made In Japan." Lid features illustration of baseball game in progress plus inset illustrations of two baseball players. Right/left side panels feature image of the toy while back panel is of baseball batter and catcher. Box has accordion-like cardboard insert which stretches across the box bottom. This was originally held in place by a pair of cardboard strips although one is missing but could be easily replaced. On the front edge of box are seven designations of either hits or outs. Object was to fold the box lid backward to form a backdrop so that when balls were hit by the toy, it would hit the backdrop and fall into one of the areas of the box insert to designate a hit or out. Box text reads "It Hits Balls-Single-Two-Three-Home Run/You Can Keep Scores For Game After Game." The diecut lid is separated at right and left fold lines so it now can be totally removed to be put in place as intended. Box has scattered color rubs, top right has 1" area w/lt. tan stain but still tight and clean. VF. Toy features a 5.25" tall baseball player wearing "All Stars" uniform and holds a plastic bat. He stands on the base at home plate in front of the batting machine unit. Front of this features illustration of pitcher and infielder while a catcher appears on the back. Around the sides of the base are additional illustrations of baseball players and actual team names including Washington Senators, St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Braves, Red Sox, Phillies, N.Y. Yankees, etc. Front of base reads "All Stars" w/image of crossed bats and baseball reading "Champion." Toy comes w/six plastic balls. These are loaded into the batting machine and one at a time they are raised so that the batter swings and hits each ball. Great action and the batter can hit each ball a good 10' in length. The blue bkg. area of the batting machine has a number of typical factory paint touchups, mainly at tabs. Toy has other minute scattered paint nicks but remains totally bright and glossy. Toy is Exc. to N. Mint. Rare.
