Toy is 4.5x8x9" tall and comes in box w/nicely illustrated lid. Early 1960s by Alps, Japan. Lid features great image of drumming Santa on the top, two sides feature an additional view of the toy while two other sides have Santa portrait. Lid has very lt. crease along right edge, 3" color rub streak across top center but box is Exc. and complete w/plain cardboard insert that fits over the drum kit. Santa has felt and plush-covered outfit and beard w/vinyl belt and metal buckle. He holds a pair of metal drumsticks. The separate drum kit is cardboard and tin litho, drum head depicts Santa in sleigh w/reindeer surrounded by stars. The tin litho base Santa sits on depicts snow-covered landscape, Christmas wreath w/bells and additional Santa in sleigh image. Toy also comes w/separate foot-activated cymbals unit. Toy works and Santa plays the drums as his head moves side to side and his eyes light. Has the typical st. aging to white areas of outfit and beard but toy remains N. Mint. Great design and action.
