Item Description
Large button with wood grain pattern cardboard back and hinged brass bar pin. Front small raised bump above hat caused by reverse brass base plate holding the 'safety' style original pin. On the back, one of two tiny brass tabs holding pin shaft to brass plate is gone. Pin wiggles around but firmly attached. Cardboard has trivial 1" rub line. The big and bold cartoon depicts hot sun baking down on sweating soldier digging neck-deep fox hole in the desert as flying and crawling bugs approach him and a coiled rattlesnake with fangs bared and shaking rattles poses to strike. Bottom curl reads "Copyright Applied For American Military Novelty Co. Grand Haven, Michigan." No stain, only tiny surface wear in reflected light and full gloss. VF. Only three seen in our 56 years.
