Item Description
8x10". Autographed print from original negative by Lou Lowery, the photographer who photographed the first Iwo Jima flag raising (not the later reinacted second raising). Inscription reads "First Flag Raising, Feb. 23, 1945/Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima/Best Wishes. Lou Lowery." The first flag raised was too small to be seen easily by nearby landing beaches so a second larger flag was raised resulting in the second photograph, the famous Pulizer Prize for photography winning one taken by Joe Rosenthal. Lowery died in 1987. Exc. Comes with Hake's COA.
