Item Description
2.5x4". Produced by the New York Photographic Co. Features a cartoon image of McClellan and James Gordon Bennett of the NY Herald, w/ the 1864 Democratic nominee knocking at the White House door. Caption at the bottom reads "It's no use knocking at the door". Bennett was the publisher of the Herald and endorsed McClellan for the presidency over Lincoln in 1864, although the paper itself officially stayed neutral. Only light surface wear. Exc. An interesting item from the wartime campaign of 1864.
