Item Description
3.25x7.5". Sherman was elected to the U.S. Senate from Ohio in 1861 and served in the Senate during the Civil War and Reconstruction. He was a Republican and an opponent of slavery. He went on to serve as Secretary of the Treasury under Hayes and Secretary of State under McKinley. Check dated January 11, 1864. Light surface handling, most notably in upper left corner. VF. Comes w/ JSA LOA and Hake's COA.
