Item Description
1.25" with likely the first back paper of the major button firm which produced so many of the city's and region's buttons from various addresses and from c. 1900 to c. 1977 named Phila. Badge Co. This real photo button showing and reading "Compliments Mll'e Emerie" shows her posing in ballet shoes and a skin tight brief outfit nearly matching her skin tone. She played vaudeville houses from at least 1910 thru 1916. Here are some sample advertising teasers from several newspapers of the era. She began in 1910 at Omaha's Orpheum Theatre with tag line of "Parisian Trapeze Novelty". As Emerie gained a few years experience in what the audience wanted, by 1914 the Boston billing was "Sensational Trapeze Disrobing Act" and by 1916 the "Disrobing Aerial Novelty". A tag line in the Durant, Oklahoma Daily Democrat reads "Throws Souvenirs From Mid-Air Into The Audience- Come And Get One". c. 1914. Rare. Glossy and Exc.
