Item Description
7/8" w/union bug at 6 o'clock and Krause Mfg. Co. back paper. The 1924 Democratic National Convention was perhaps the most contentious in U.S. history. After 100 ballots, William Gibbs McAdoo and Al Smith both agreed to concede, and on the 103rd ballot, dark horse John W. Davis got the nomination. Smith decided to run for re-election as the NY Governor. This button is a coattail for Davis and the eventual 1928 Democratic nominee, Al Smith. While Davis lost in a landslide to Coolidge, Smith was able to defeat Teddy Roosevelt, Jr. in his bid for the Governor's mansion. Slightly off-center, otherwise bold color w/light surface wear. Exc. as made.
