Item Description
25x25.5". Linen. Listed in Collins Threads of History as plate #192 on p. 121. Portrait encircled by stalks of wheat w/text "Clay/Frelinghuysen" above and below and "Tariff/Union" flanking. Corners feature graphics- "Agriculture And Commerce", "Union And Our Country", "Tariff Home League" and "Rolling In To Clear The Way" w/image of racoon holding a "Constitution" following ball. A faint light brown stain at top center that is only noticeable along the top cream border. Otherwise scattered light brown dots of toning most notably in the cream field just right of the top left design and minor handling. Fine. Overall a striking example that will frame beautifully.
