Item Description
7/8" w/union bug at 4 o'clock. Featuring portrait of Nations, the American Party nominee in 1924. Nations was an outspoken anti-Catholic activist and publisher based in Washington, DC. Nations and the American Party ran on a platform of immigration restriction and upholding the 18th Amendment. It attempted to curry favor w/the KKK, but the Klan leadership rejected the alliance w/the American Party, not based on a difference in principles, but rather because it felt the third party stood no chance of victory. The Klan decided to stay officially neutral, although there were accusations that the Klan leadership was secretly backing Coolidge. A glossy example w/only the faintest and most trivial staining at 3 o'clock. Still Exc. One of the rarest third party pinbacks.
