Item Description
1.25". Refers to New York's November 6th, 1917 Constitutional Amendment three years ahead of the 19th Amendment. Under Carrie Chapman Catt's leadership, the National American Woman Suffrage Association (NAWSA) convinced New York Republicans and Democrats to include suffrage in their 1916 platforms and then went to work. The organization canvassed door to door, not only in New York City but across the state, and emerged with the largest single signed petition to that date with 1,030,000 names. Bold, scarce button w/Rochester NY back stamp. Faint edge spotting and a tiny cello separation along the collet at 6 o'clock that does not affect display. VF.
