Item Description
7/8" w/union bug at 4 o'clock. Pair of stars accent the text declaring Smith clear of the infamous Republican scandal. Likely produced in 1924 for Smith's run at the nomination against William Gibbs McAdoo. While the Harding Administration and the Republican Party were at the center of the scandal, McAdoo was also implicated. Smith supporters highlighted Al's clean hands in the scandal in contrast to McAdoo and the current administration in 1924. Only minor wear in reflected light. NM. John Van Meter Collection.
