Item Description
2.25" w/union bugs at 2 and 10 o'clock. Scattered tiny areas of paint loss mostly relegated to the extreme outer edges. Retains vibrant color. Extremely Fine. "60140" was Earl Browder's prison serial number. Convicted in 1917 of conspiracy against draft laws, he was sentenced to 16 months in prison. Imprisoned again in 1919. Ran for US representative from New York while in prison in 1930. Pardoned in 1933. Ran for president on Communist ticket 1936-1940. Arrested in 1939 for a passport violation and convicted and sentenced to 4 years in prison (sentence was commuted after 14 months). Expelled from Communist Party in 1946.
