Item Description
Set of three 5x7" high gloss photos from the 1969 reprint edition (the original 1950s versions were machine-printed) featuring photo portraits of E.C. Comics' trio of horror hosts - the three "GhouLunatics" - The Old Witch, The Vault-Keeper and The Crypt-Keeper. The previously mentioned 1950s versions of these portraits were the first E.C. premiums, offered in E.C. comic book letter columns beginning in late 1950 and continuing for two years w/approx. 10,000 sets produced. The photos are heavily retouched shots of E.C. artist Johnny Craig (in costume and make-up) taken by E.C. editor Al Feldstein. These 1969 reprint editions were produced in an unknown (but certainly significantly lower) amount anonymously and appear to have been reproduced from the original negatives, representing the first and only true photographic iteration of these ghoulish keepsakes. Photos bear printed inscriptions/signatures and show scattered handling wear. VF overall. Both originals and these later reprints are rare and very sought after by E.C. collectors. First we've offered in our 56 years.
