Item Description
12x15" first edition from 1968, still sealed as issued in plastic bag w/unpunched header card and insert. Poster Dresses Ltd. Of London England. Back of header has detailed text on this series, how to wear and what to do when you are done wearing it such as "Hang It On Your Wall As A Poster." Made of rayon and nylon. There were five different designs in this "1st Edition" series and all are shown on the larger cardstock insert sheet. This one features all-over print of a cat whose face dominates the front of the dress. American graphic artist Harry Gordon designed this series which originally retailed for $2.98. Disposable paper fashion flourished in the US during the 1960s. Inexpensive and fun, paper dresses often featured pop-art patterns, advertisements or artworks such as Warhol's Campbell's Soup cans. However the craze was short-lived making these dresses very desirable today, especially in high grade. The example we are offering has just minimal wear to the packaging and insert which are Exc., while dress is NM/Mint as made.
