Item Description
16.75x20.75" framed display under glass for RIAA sales award to Eric Pleskow (1924-2019), film producer and executive who, from 1973 through 1978, was president of United Artists. Under his presidency at United Artists, the company won the Academy Award for Best Picture three years in a row - One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975), Rocky (1976) and Annie Hall (1977). Pleskow co-founded and later ran Orion Pictures from 1978 through 1991. This award is for United Artists Records' Rocky soundtrack LP, released Nov. 12 1976. Display features inset image of the album cover beside RIAA plaque plate mounted at bottom. RIAA plaque reads "Presented To Eric Pleskow To Commemorate The Sale Of More Than 1,000,000 Copies Of The United Artists Records Long-Playing Record Album 'Rocky'." Label has lifted a bit on platinum record and inset album cover has faded w/age. Frame has scattered wear. Fine overall. A sought after soundtrack award, enhanced by its recipient being the head of the film's studio.
