Item Description
6x13" embossed tin sign from the 1920s advertising "Exquisite Cherry Sparkle" soda. Sign is © The Crown Cork & Seal Co. Features 3.25x5.25" illustration of Alfred E. Neuman-like character w/bottle of soda in his hand. "What-Me Worry?" kid later became Alfred E. Neuman in MAD magazine. Character pre-dated magazine by as much as 60 years. Earliest known incarnation dates from the 1890s in advertising. Handling wear, creases to thin tin which is mounted on cardboard so as to be hung. Some areas of luster loss but sign remains somewhat glossy and a very nice display piece. VF. Rare.
