Item Description
1.25" with W&H back paper used only in 1896-1897 and their second oldest design with a thin varnish coat over the company text and three patent dates. Against a watery background, likely San Francisco Bay with two tiny ships, and a sunburst on the horizon, an upright bear with tall walking stick listens intently to a costumed jester serenading him with a violin. One known to us. Rare. Exc. California Button Collection.
