Item Description
1.75" w/ "Quimby Mfg. Co." on curl. Two tiny cello. indents on extreme outer edge at 9 & 10 o'clock. Otherwise scattered faint spotting in cream background and moderate surface wear in reflected light. VF. Slogan, size, bold portrait and striking blue text make this a standout. The first we can recall offering in 56 years. Taft also visited the fair in 1910 and a matching button variety was produced. Roosevelt has a storied history at the MN State Fair frequenting the event starting as VP in 1901- where he delivered his first public use of the "Walk Softly And Carry A Big Stick" proverb, in 1908 as President, twice in 1910 and again as a candidate in 1912.
