Item Description
3.5x6.5". First Day of Issue dated April 18, 1974. Imagery of wildlife and nature w/ text reading "Preserve the Environment; expo '74 worlds fair". Meredith is a civil rights activist and the first African American admitted into the previously segregated University of Mississippi in 1962. In 1966 he led the "March Against Fear", where he was shot by a white gunman. After his recovery he rejoined the march in Jackson, MS, in what became the largest civil rights demonstration in the state. Comes w/ JSA COA and Hake's COA.
