Item Description
29.25x39" matte ready for framing. Text along base notes Published By H. H. Lloyd & Co., New York, B. B. Russell, Boston, R. R. Landon, Chicago and "Agents Wanted To Sell This And Many Other New And Popular Works." Candidate's bio in margins around a stirring depiction as Civil War general directing troops from horseback. Text above equestrian portrait "Maj. Gen. Geo. B. McClellan For President Of The United States." The vignette at bottom shows heroics from the battle of Antietam. Hinge mounted along top edge to front matte. Left edge has margin losses mostly visible only under matte w/a .75x1.75" area at top left affecting text. Moderate damp staining and scattered vertical handling wrinkles. Technically VG, but displaying well above grade. Only the second example we have encountered in our 56 years, and this one is significantly more attractive. Easily among the most striking 1864 McClellan display artifacts.
