Item Description
Advertisement is 8.5x10". 1880. Smith's Musket Torch. Ad claims the musket torch is "Entirely New And Entirely Different From Any Other. It Will Give More Light Than Any Ordinary Torch." Ad has been taped on the reverse for stabilization, w/tape marks/residue appearing on front. Edge wear and chipping along right edge, otherwise a few small tears and moderate handling. Good. Photo is 2-3/8x4".  Featuring young man/teenager in uniform holding a musket torch. Even aging w/some scattered staining seen most notably in upper left corner. Some edge wear. Fine. Musket is 67" long overall w/6.5x6.5" torch attached to end. Features a wooden ram rod as well as metal details, including a hammer, trigger, and trigger guard. Moderate surface wear and handling, most notably some looseness on the torch where it is affixed to muzzle. VF. An impressive example of these always popular artifacts of 1880s political campaigning.
