Item Description
The Pokémon Base Set was released in the US on Jan. 9, 1999 by Wizards of the Coast, igniting a collecting craze that continues to the current day, making Pokémon one of the most lucrative and popular pop culture franchises of all time. This Base Set is the only set not to have a set logo or symbol (except error "no symbol" Jungle cards). It is one of limited number of sets to include a full set of basic Energy cards. The set also contained Double Colorless Energy, the first special Energy card. The set has a total of 102 cards, including the highly popular Charizard. This Wizards of the Coast factory-sealed 3rd edition (also known as "Unlimited") Base Set booster box has 36 booster packs; each pack containing 11 cards, for a total of 396 cards. "Blue-Winged Charizard" box variety w/country codes on underside of box. One box corner exhibits slight inward dent, but o/w box shows little wear and is Exc. overall.
