Item Description
Each of the 10 in this c. 1928-29 set is a 1" litho by Green Duck. This theatre was built in Hagerstown, MD in 1915 and we date this set based on when Our Gang members joined or left the series which ran 1922-1944. In photo order the first seven are Our Gang members: Joe Cobb, Allen Haskins (Farina), Mary Ann Jackson, Harry Spear, Bobby Hutchins (Wheezer), Jean Darling, and mascot Pete the Pup. 8 and 9 are Sonny McKean (Snookums in the Newlyweds Comedies by Stern Bros.) and Malcolm Sebastian (star of Big Boy Comedies c. 1927-28.) The tenth in Maryland set is a girl unknown to us with an extra of her in red naming Victory Theatre Safety Klub Kid Komedy. The 5 miscellaneous are 7/8 to 1". Spanky (joined late 1931 and became biggest star for 11 years) is shown on clubs sponsored by Arden and Sunfreze. Next two w/Pete have small bit of stain. Smaller reads Pete/Member Spanky Safely Club (C) Hal Roach Studios and is the rarest of all in the group. Last is club button for Jackie Cooper who replaced Spear and became famous as the child star portraying Skippy on loan to Paramount in 1931. Unless noted all Exc./NM.
