Item Description
Taking years to assemble, this collection covers a 60 year span of the fight against TB from 1911-1971. Buttons from 1911 through 1925 are celluloid covered while 1926 through 1971 are litho tin. Sizes are between 3/4" and 7/8".  Some years were skipped, some designs were used more than a single year, some years had design variations, but other than 1913 which is a small rectangular celluloid with a moveable short stickpin, these 60 include at least one button for each year a new one was issued. Starting in 1911 and through 1919 all include the words "American Red Cross". From 1920 to the end, all include a double barred cross and Santa image. Of the set of 60, 25 picture Santa. 1917-1918 are not included as these were just the Red Cross logo. There are two for 1926 with second one having the scratched initials "JM". In 1931, 1943, and 1945 none were produced. 1933 includes Santa in sleigh used in Massachusetts. 1934 red on outfit faded. 1951 then jumps to 1960 which jumps to 1971.
