Item Description
11x17" stiff card stock poster advertising a concert at the "LA Sports Arena" on "May 24" and offers "Special Student Tickets" available on campuses for "Students For Kennedy" or at "Kennedy For President" headquarters on Wilshire Blvd. Concert featured additional acts Mahalia Jackson, Roosevelt Grier and others. Shirley MacLaine, Gene Kelly and Jerry Lewis also made appearances. Art by Mortimer, featuring three RFK portraits as part of the psychedelic design. The SRO (Standing Room Only) event was May 24, 1968, just four days before RFK lost the May 28th Oregon primary setting the stage for the crucial CA primary showdown on June 4th. Tragedy struck on June 5th when RFK was fatally shot exiting the hotel after his victory speech. A high grade example w/only minor wear, most notably trivially edge wear in bottom right corner mentioned only for extreme accuracy. NM. John Hillhouse Collection.
