Item Description
This figure was made by the company made famous for their Marvel Family statuettes (see previous four lots). Solid 5.25" tall painted figure includes incised name on front of base and 1946 NEA Service Inc. copyright on back. Statuette is made from an unknown blend of resin-like materials and has remnant of flocking on head and trunks. Missing separate 2.25" long club that fits into the crook of his arm for display (melt mark and spot of glue visible on arm from where club once rested). Statuette has small rub to hair and there are a number of very minor surface hairlines which are only noticeable when viewed closely and these in no way affect the piece's structural integrity. One of these surface hairlines runs vertically across his face and up the center of his chest, which blends somewhat w/chest musculature. 1" hairline to side of ankle w/7/8" hairline to back of other leg. Top of one toe missing (exposing rusted interior wire) and other toes show scattered paint wear. .5" line impression w/oxidation between feet, however figure is all original w/no repairs of touch-ups. VG/Fine overall. This is one of the very rarest comic character figures. Only four are known and only two examples are complete w/club. Unlike the Marvel Family of Kerr statuettes, no box was made for this figure. A rare opportunity to obtain this much sought-after figure. Harry Matetsky Collection.
