Item Description
Lot of two. First is 2.75" tin litho sheet featuring the design used on the 1941 club button (see previous lot). This is a perfectly machine stamped circle w/smooth edges. It features four complete or near complete 7/8" button designs along w/partial designs around rim. This was either a factory error in which a larger button size was set up to be stamped from the sheet vs. the intended 7/8" size or this was intended to be repurposed as a metal backing for another button, a common practice in button manufacturing. Either way it is a Capt. Marvel anomaly, the only example we've seen in our 56 years. Lt. scattered wear, VF. The Australian button is 1" dia. Same design as the English club buttons (also see previous lot) except this has a red rim. A rarely seen variation. Exc. Harry Matetsky Collection.
