Item Description
7/8" with either American Pepsin Gum or W&H back paper. For decades only 84 were known but this set now stands at 85 with the addition of "David Farragut/Admiral U.S.A.". This and eight others have tiny bit of age. With 76 Exc. to NM this is a high grade set. This set includes the only known button representation for many celebrities of the 19th century. Highlights include: 7 bicyclists, 12 Civil War participants (including J. Davis, Lee and Union generals), plus individuals such as Sara Bernhardt, Barnum, Napoleon, Buffalo Bill, Custer, boxers (Corbett, Fitzsimmons, Sullivan), Fred. Douglass, Grant, Greeley, Edison, Mark Hanna, Sandow (strong man), Shakespeare, Queen Victoria and son Edward, and Daniel Webster. The only set of 85 known to us.
