Item Description
32x48". Velvet. Gold lettering w/ fleur-de-lis accents below. While there are about a half dozen Shelbyvilles across the United States, this is likely from Shelbyville, IN, as there is a reference to a Cleveland Club event in Indiana in October of 1888 with Thurman in attendance in which clubs from Cincinnati and Columbus, OH also attended (Wise County Messenger, October 28, 1888). Fading and gold letter application loss on "Cleveland" and particularly "And Thurman". Gold lettering on "Shelbyville" is bold. Otherwise moderate handling. VG. Ex-Chic Harris Collection.
