Item Description
9.25" long. Patented June 14, 1892. The Phelps Guards were established in 1872 and named after William Walter Phelps, who served as a Congressman from New Jersey, as well as the Ambassador to both Germany and Austria-Hungary. Features portrait cello Harrison hanger w/1872 and 1892 dates on either side of portrait. Additional text on bottom of ribbon reads "Organized 1872 'Hello Pete'". Horizontal .5" separation along left edge just below flag. Otherwise even aging on cello and ribbon, as well as horizontal crease in center of ribbon. Otherwise moderate handling. An ornate and scarce badge.
