Item Description
1.75" no maker's name. Great graphics of two airplanes soaring over three early racing autos. Located in Playa del Rey, this one mile wood board race track was started in 1910 and designed to hold 40,000 spectators. The location drew notable racers such as Barney Oldfield and Ralph DePalma. In 1911, the first 24 hour endurance race took place. Aviation meets were also featured attracting pioneers such as the Wright Brothers and Glenn Curtiss. All this ended in a fire blamed on vagrants August 11, 1913. Exc. and only example known to us. Rare.
