Item Description
8x10" official NASA photo shows John Glenn (1921-2016), the first American placed into orbit on Feb. 20, 1962, later serving as US Senator from Ohio. Glenn wears civilian clothes and stands w/his hands on globe and American flag behind him. Photo has been signed in black felt tip pen by Glenn, who has added personalized inscription. Photo has some handling wear, w/creases across top. Fine/VF overall. Comes w/3-5/8x6.5" first day cover (FDC) envelope commemorating "Project Mercury" and has Feb. 20, 1962 Port Canaveral, FL postmark. Glenn has boldly signed in black felt tip pen. FDC has small spot of staining to postmark, o/w Exc. Comes w/JSA COAs.
