Item Description
A rare pre-1900 professional baseball artifact, the only example known to us. 2.25x6" fabric ribbon. Issued by "Chronicle Telegraph" as a "Newsboy's Badge", the ribbon promotes the opening game of the 1894 National League season in which the Browns defeated the Pirates 11-3. The game was played at Robinson Field. The Pittsburgh Chronicle Telegraph started the year of this ribbon, 1884. Lt. trace of aging and bit of fraying at top/bottom. Still exceptional condition overall given its age and fragile nature. VF. Early and historic.
