Item Description
1.75". No maker. Portrait photo of him in Yankees cap. Gehrig played 17 seasons for the New York Yankees earning the nickname "The Iron Horse." Suffering from symptoms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis Gehrig said goodbye to baseball in a heartbreaking speech at Yankee stadium in 1939, calling himself the "Luckiest Man On The Face Of This Earth." This button was produced two years later upon his passing at just 37 years of age. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame in 1939. Trace of oxidation to metal back. Front is glossy and Exc. A rare Gehrig item.
