Item Description
1.5" w/union bug at 6 o'clock. Some scattered edge staining that blends well into red and blue background, most notably at 7 and 11 o'clock. Otherwise, a few trivial age marks in white field and light scattered wear. VF, displays above grade. Mayor Warren Irelan was running for re-election in the Atlantic County, NJ city of Absecon. The city saw a population boom between 1950 from 2,355 to 4,320 residents by 1960. Suffice to say this button would have been extremely limited and distribution in a hyper local zone making survivors especially rare. Difficult to obtain in any condition w/five of the six examples known to us having notable staining. The present example is well above average for the population. An important Ike coattail rarity.
