Item Description
7" overall w/ 1.25" cello portrait. 1909. Text below star reads "10th Ass'y District". Hanger designation reads "Captain." Fading on ribbon text w/ even aging. Moderate wear, most notably on tassels at bottom. Cello is clean w/ only minor wear. Overall VF. William Jay Gaynor was elected in 1909 and served as the Democratic mayor of New York City until 1913. He was a noted as a reformer who rebuked the powerful Tammany Hall during his time in office.
