Item Description
4.5x12x4.25" tall beautifully illustrated box c. 1930s. Top and bottom panels of box feature scene of this rocket ship flying in outer space. The other two side panels feature repeat text w/two smaller illustrations of the flying ship. End panels have illustration of Saturn, Flash wearing helmet, rocket ship w/text "Sparkling Rocket Fighting Ship." Inside flap has directions. Three .75" tears on inside flaps, not visible when closed. Bottom panel has two .25x.5" areas of color loss, not offensive. A few tiny handling creases visible under closed inspection but box maintains original color and shape. Box is VF. 12" long tin litho windup toy w/built-in key. Text reads "Flash Gordon/© King Features Syndicate/Rocket Fighter/5." Toy works well and travels forward as a pinging sound is made. Directions indicate that toy can move in a straight line or in a circle, adjustable by moving rear wheel. Toy is designed to spark but needs easily replaced flint in tail. Body of ship has tiny scattered paint nicks and marks but no serious defects of any kind. Toy remains glossy and w/deep, strong color. Rarely found boxed and in this condition. Exc.
