Item Description
1.75". In 1968 SCLC headed by Dr. Martin Luther King was planning a major demonstration in Washington D.C. In the midst of planning King went to Memphis to participate in a sanitation workers strike and was assassinated. The demonstration went on as planned and this button was one of several varieties produced for it. This is the rarest of those varieties and features a horse drawn wagon at center. The left most 1/5 of the button has vertical banding as made. Light grey spots blending evenly into the background and one light yellow spot in the white field above the "I" in "Washington". Remains structurally sound with full gloss. VG. Rare.
