Edwin Booth was a renowned actor during the mid-to-late 19th century, most well known for his roles in Shakespeare plays, including Hamlet, among others. Unfortunately his success as one of the most talented actors of his generation were overshadowed by his younger brother, John Wilkes Booth, and his assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Following the his brother's death, he disavowed him and refused to let his name be spoken in his presence. Edwin went on to continue a successful career as an actor until a stroke in 1891 led to his retirement. In a miraculous coincidence, just months prior to the assassination, Edwin saved Robert Todd Lincoln's life on a train platform in New Jersey. Booth did not find out until later that is was Abraham Lincoln's son that he saved. Comes w/JSA LOA.
