Item Description
1.75" w/W&H back paper used only 1898-1900. Perhaps this button is so rare because it scared away the Mardi Gras revelers who may have otherwise purchased a souvenir of the event. Pictured in jester costume, with hat and pitchfork, is a man wearing an ugly mask with giant nose. He is stepping over a second mask laying beneath his foot on the ground which has an obvious smiling expression. To the left lay three discarded items- seemingly a long shaft horn or noise-maker, a tapered club like a bat or baton and a conical hat. It appears merrymaking and festivity has been tossed aside by this jester in favor of the dark side. Exc. One known.
