Item Description
1.75" w/W&H back paper in use 1898-1900, with this button dated for 1899 carnival. While the design is amazingly ornate, sadly the colors are not amazingly bright as they could be on an 1899 Whitehead & Hoag button. The celluloid covering seems a bit thicker than normal and it gives the illustration artwork a degree of cloudiness. On the plus side, this is an amazing first seen by us button. This button is for you too if you are looking for: one circus wagon, two clowns close-up, two full figure ladies holding batons, three arches, four white horses and 15 poles with American flags. As made, NM. One known.
