Item Description
6.5x8.5" album's title translates to "Hitting And Playing Go-Go With Comic Discs In Full Color" and features 20 thin paper pages, each having a dozen 1-5/8" dia. round cardstock cards per page (for total of 240 discs). Published in Peru for the Peruvian market, late 1960s. Marvel and DC Comics characters (as well as a myriad of additional cartoon characters) are featured throughout, w/images of these discs shown on front/back covers. DC characters are featured including - Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Superman, Clark Kent, Catwoman, Supergirl, Batman, Green Lantern, Krypto, The Ray, Plastic Man, The Riddler, Star Sapphire, Robin and Lois Lane. Other comic and cartoon characters depicted include - Casper the Friendly Ghost, The Phantom, Betty Boop, Dagwood and Blondie, Looney Tunes characters, The Black Cat, Tom and Jerry (in Musketeers outfits), Andy Panda, Woody Woodpecker, Tarzan, Deputy Dawg, Jonny Quest, Hanna-Barbera characters, Green Hornet, Jungle Jim, Prince Valiant, Droopy Dog, Popeye, Olive Oyl, Wimpy, Archie Comics characters, Mighty Mouse, Mandrake the Magician, Felix the Cat, Flintstones characters and many more. Western characters including Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Red Ryder, The Lone Ranger, Zorro and others are also featured alongside individual discs for each of The Three Stooges. Of note, a few discs feature stereotypical depictions of black characters. Album features complete amount of 240 different discs. The Black Duckling disc on first page has been colored in w/black ink. Album shows moderate handling wear/aging w/rippling to pages from pasted discs. Two centerfolds loose from staples. VG/Fine overall. A few discs show scattered wear w/a few scattered pencil/pen marks, but majority are VF to Exc. Every page shown online. Interesting South American issue, featuring a veritable treasure trove of characters, both major and obscure.
