Item Description
Complete set of eight pin-back buttons, ranging in size from 1.25" to 2-1/8" in dia. Four 1.25" buttons - Fantastic Four, Silver Surfer, Sub-Mariner, Thor; 1-3/8" Doctor Doom; 1.75" Incredible Hulk; and two 2-1/8" for Captain America and Spider-Man. All feature Jack Kirby or Kirby-style art. Set was ordered from the 1969 Marvelmania catalog and comes w/a photocopy of the catalog page advertising these buttons. The buttons were short-printed at production, causing the many who ordered them to have their money returned as the set quickly sold out. Trace of surface oxidation to the metal backs of Spider-Man and Silver Surfer. Captain America has a .25" cello split along right center rim edge and a bit of dirt under cello on opposite side rim edge. All buttons have trace of surface wear to the celluloid but most only seen upon close inspection and/or under magnification. All remain bright and glossy w/bold/strong color. Set overall Fine to Exc. Single buttons are rare, a complete set is very rare, and this is only the second set we have ever offered. A must have for the Marvel collector.
