Item Description
5x7.5" paper envelope w/art of the Boy Commandos, a group of "kid gang" characters Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. ©1946 Detective Comics Inc. Envelope has lt. even aging and scattered handling wear w/corner creases at upper left. VF. Envelope originally contained two sheets w/full color decals that were soaked w/water and placed on moistened article or skin. Sheets have been clipped and total of 11 decals (out of total 16 issued). Larger piece has seven decals, including - Capt. Rip Carter (2), Andre from France, Alfy from England, Brooklyn, "Jan To The Rescue" and central image of The Boy Commandos. Another partial sheet features three decals - Jan, Rip Carter and Jan on horseback w/"The Commandos Are Coming" caption. Another small corner piece shows "Brooklyn On K.P." Remainder decals are unused and VF to Exc. Very rare, we have only offered one other example in our 57 years (complete and unused), which sold for $1,707 in our Sept. 2008 auction.
