Item Description
Lot pertains to popular 1940s Fawcett premium. 2.5x3.75" stiff paper card features full figure color image of Captain Marvel and has lift-up flap on bottom half to change the picture to a full figure image of Billy Batson. Flap has been creased. Reverse features secret code. Some scattered surface indents by Captain Marvel's head, o/w unused. VF. Scarce. Comes w/2.75x4" typed "Captain Marvel's Secret Message" sheet which when used in combination w/code on membership card translates to "Read All About Capt Marvel Jr In Master Comics. Gee Fellers It's Great. On Sale Everywhere." Some faint penciling, but o/w Exc. Rare. Comes w/pair of papers related to production of this premium. 5.5x8-3/8" typed sheet marked "Office Memorandum - Fawcett Publications, Inc." is dated June 5, 1945 and mentions attached sheet from Reed & Associates, Inc. (who made the membership card), w/illustrated instructions for use. Cover letter has penciled "File" notation and has paperclip mark at upper left. VF. Instructions have been folded and have pencil notation at top. Matching paperclip mark and some corner tip wear. Fine/VF. Both are the only examples known to us.
