Item Description
9.25" tall. c. 1789. Transfer features Washington and Liberty, who holds a pole w/Liberty cap atop, advancing while gesturing to a map of the original 13 colonies w/the personification of fame above. At right is Benjamin Franklin w/justice and wisdom dictating text that he writes in the book on his lap. Other side has black enamel hand painted early fire engine pumper framed by a ornate floral border. Owner's initials and 15 star federal eagle under spout. Scattered faint staining and typical light even crazing. No signs of restoration. VF. One of our favorite transfers and a fine example made all the more interesting w/the presence of the fire motif.
