Item Description
12" tall w/lid in place. c. 1800. "Wedgwood" hallmark on underside of base. Transfer featuring portrait of Washington on obelisk w/birth and death dates below and additional text in banner "America In Tears." Reverse has oval portrait of female in colonial outfit wearing hat captioned "E. Elson". Seamless circumference repair at base of spout. Repaired cracks to lid and scattered repairs throughout not affecting transfers which remain strong and clear. VF. Undoubtedly a special order piece w/likely unique back transfer. Teapots are notably scarcer than their jug counterparts and this is an impressive example. Rex & Patti Stark Collection.
